Jack Heath was first elected to Markham Council in 1997 as Councillor for Ward 5, which is generally east of Highway 48. He was re-elected in 2000.
In 2003, he stepped up to become one of Markham’s four Regional Councillors.
Jack was re-elected in 2006. He now serves on Markham Council as both Regional Councillor and Deputy Mayor.
Jack is Chair of Markham District Energy Inc., which is owned by the Town of Markham and provides district heating and cooling to 27 buildings in Markham Centre. He has served on the Rouge Park Alliance for ten years, and is also York Region's representative on the executive of the Toronto Region and Conservation Authority. Jack is Chair of York Region’s Community & Health Services Committee and member of Markham's Budget Committee.
Jack and his wife Krista Chiu established The Law Bookstore in 1983, which operated on Bullock Drive in Markham for many years.
