Before entering public service, Jack Heath was a small business owner. He and his wife Krista owned and operated JLH Law Books Ltd. in Toronto, and after 1991, in Markham. It sold legal books, new and used, across Canada, the United States, and the Commonwealth. He understood first-hand the challenges facing Markham entrepreneurs. His real-world experience shaped his approach to governance — practical, accountable, and results-driven. He knows that keeping taxes down is important for the city's economy.
On Markham Council, Jack served nearly 11 years as Deputy Mayor of Markham (2008–2018) and 19 years on York Region Council (2003-2022) as a Markham Regional Councillor. He earned a reputation as a tireless champion for affordable housing, environmental sustainability, responsible community development, and much more!
After stepping away from elected office in 2022, Jack is returning because Markham needs experienced leadership now more than ever — to deal with traffic congestion, better transit, community safety, the housing crisis, and environmental protection to ensure our growing community thrives for generations to come.
